The Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee and the Arizona Cardinals stand boldly in opposition of SB 1062, which aims to institutionalize prejudice under the guise of religious freedom.

According to the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee, the “Religious Freedom Restoration Act” that currently sits on Governor Brewer’s desk runs contrary to the NFL’s core values of tolerance, diversity and inclusiveness.

“What so many love about football is its ability to bring people together,” the Arizona Cardinals said in a statement released Monday. “We do not support anything that has the potential to divide, exclude and discriminate.”

Because the language in the “License to Discriminate” bill is so broad, any individual, corporation, institution, or business organization may be able to justify discrimination against LGBT individuals by claiming a religious belief.

The Super Bowl Host Committee and Arizona Cardinals join a growing cadre of faith leaders, elected officials, businesses and organizations that oppose SB1062.

HRC has been on the ground in Arizona, from getting Arizona's leading business and faith leaders to sign on to letters calling on the Governor to veto the bill to creating, printing and distributing hundreds of “open for business to everyone” signs. Now, we need your help.
