This past week, Joanna Lohman, a professional soccer player for the Washington Spirit, sported HRC’s logo in honor of pride.

Lohman tweeted a photo with the HRC logo drawn on the side of her head with the text, “Shout out to the @HRC via @WashSpirit colors. Pride Game Saturday. @AthleteAlly #BeYou #DCpride #JoHawk”

Lohman has been out for several years and is engaged to soccer star Lianne Sanderson.

"Being an out and proud professional athlete, I have seen how much of a difference it can make to live a honest and authentic life,” her biography for Athlete Ally stated. “I hope I can take what I have learned through personal struggles to find my identity and assist others in their journey.  At the end of the day we are all equal and deserving of love and acceptance."

In 2013, two other out soccer stars, Megan Rapinoe and Lori Lindsey, joined HRC’s Love Conquers Hate campaign.

Lohman is an LGBT advocate and activist and a Pro Ambassador for Athlete Ally. HRC thanks Lohman for her unwavering support.
