Pride parades and festivals across the country had an extra reason to celebrate this weekend.

Following the Supreme Court’s historic decision in support of nationwide marriage equality, thousands came out to support loving, committed same-sex couples and to celebrate this momentous occasion.

Even before New York City’s pride parade began on Sunday, members of the LGBT and ally kicked off the celebration on Friday outside the historic Stonewall Inn.

On Saturday, Jim Obergefell, the named plaintiff in the marriage equality case, celebrated pride in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Ann Crowley, HRC Membership and Online Strategy Director, and Paulette Roberts, John Arthur's aunt who officiated Jim and John’s wedding, joined Jim as he celebrated in his hometown.

On Sunday, communities gathered nationwide, from San Francisco to New York, in honor of pride.

At New York City pride, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo joined revered attorney Robbie Kaplan outside of Stonewall to officiate the wedding of HRC Associate Regional Field Director David Turley and his partner Peter Thiede.

To end the weekend, Jim Obergefell was the guest of honor at San Francisco's Pride Parade. He joined HRC President Chad Griffin and thousands of others to complete a truly extraordinary week for the LGBT community.
