Post submitted by Maureen McCarty, former HRC Deputy Director of Marketing

It's an exciting day in history as we return to the U.S. Supreme Court. Today's oral arguments in Obergefell v Hodges, a case originating in Ohio, has the potential to bring marriage equality to all 50 states.

Trailblazing LGBT Attorney Mary Bonauto, Civil Rights Project Director for Gay and Lesbian Advocates & Defenders (GLAD), and Douglas Hallward-Driemeier, a former assistant U.S. solicitor general, represented HRC member Jim Obergefell and all fellow plaintiffs from Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee before the Supreme Court.

HRC is bringing you live updates of the scene outside of the Court and the outpouring of support on social all day. STAY TUNED.
