Earlier this month, HRC’s Sarah McBride delivered the keynote address at the Fair Wisconsin’s 2017 Gala Dinner. Sarah was joined by her family and her in-laws from her marriage to her late husband, Andrew Cray. Sarah shared her moving story of their love, their call to activism, the unwavering love of their parents and her vision for a future of equality for all.

Each year, Fair Wisconsin holds the event to honor local and national leaders who are making a difference in the fight for full LGBTQ equality in the Badger State. Honorees for the night included: The Wisconsin Transgender Health Coalition with the Tammy Baldwin Statewide Impact Award, Dr. Clifford King, with the Fair Wisconsin Community Leadership Award and Proud Theater with the Organization of the Year Award.

Tom Guay, Vice President at  Northwestern Mutual and an executive sponsor of the company’s LGBTA employee resource group, highlighted Northwestern Mutual’s work in the community and lifted up their work with Fair Wisconsin. He also highlighted the company’s perfect 100 score on HRC’s Corporate Equality Index for three years running.

HRC’s Associate Regional Field Director, Ryan Rowe, was also present and is working with Fair Wisconsin and their local partners as they prepare for another anti-transgender “bathroom bill” to be raised this session. Together, HRC and Fair Wisconsin will continue to stand guard against any other legislative attacks while working to support pro-LGBTQ candidates, policies and community efforts in Wisconsin.
