Carnival Corporation has joined the Florida Businesses for a Competitive Workforce (FBCW) coalition working to end LGBT discrimination in businesses across the Sunshine State.

"Diversity is a business imperative,” said Arnold Donald, president and CEO of Carnival Corporation & plc in a statement. “The key to innovation is diversity of thinking… having people from different backgrounds and different cultural experiences who are organized around a common objective are far more likely to create breakthrough innovation than a homogenous group. That same diversity of thinking is a powerful advantage."

Carnival Corporation is now one of more than 20 major Florida employers as part of the FBCW coalition to pass the Florida Competitive Workforce Act (FCWA), which would update Florida's non-discrimination laws to include sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression.

HRC is proud to be a leading member of Florida Competes, a grassroots effort that includes business leaders, lawmakers, faith leaders, members of the LGBT community and concerned residents who have come together to pass the FCWA.

Along with Florida Competes, HRC is honored to work with a wide-range of groups, including the FBCW coalition, to pass the FCWA.

Currently in Florida, there are no explicit statewide laws that prohibit employment discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
