WITH OH-12 TOO CLOSE TO CALL, 8,500 ABSENTEE AND PROVISIONAL BALLOTS TO BE COUNTED IN 10 DAYS: HRC  staff and volunteers have been on the ground mobilizing thousands of Equality Voters in the district for Danny O’Connor. In Ohio, HRC has identified more than 1.8 million Equality Voters -- voters who support LGBTQ-inclusive policies including marriage equality, equitable family law, and laws that would prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity.

RECORD-BREAKING TURNOUT IN MICHIGAN PRIMARY: HRC is celebrating the victories of pro-equality candidates advancing to the November general election: Senator Debbie Stabenow; Rep. Dan Kildee, Gretchen Driskell, Elissa Slotkin, Rep. Debbie Dingell, and Rep. Brenda Lawrence for United States Congress; and State Rep. Jeremy Moss for Michigan State Senate. Anti-LGBTQ extremist Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette won the GOP nomination in the gubernatorial race, and HRC will continue to #TurnOUT to ensure he never sets foot in the governor’s mansion.

HRC SEEKS JUSTICE DEPARTMENT RECORDS REGARDING CREATION OF SO-CALLED ‘RELIGIOUS LIBERTY TASK FORCE’: The FOIA request calls for the release of all records related to the task force announced by Attorney General Jeff Sessions on July 30. HRC is demanding transparency from the DOJ, which has not provided details publicly on the activities of the task force, including how much it is spending, its mandate and scope, and its members. The FOIA request was sent ahead of Sessions’ speech tonight at an event sponsored by the anti-LGBTQ hate group, Alliance Defending Freedom. More from HRC.
