AN UPDATE ON GENDER AFFIRMING CARE DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC: “We know that gender-affirming medical and surgical care are essential to the long-term well-being of our transgender and gender diverse patients, families and communities. Just because these procedures have currently been classified as non-urgent does not mean we consider them to be non-essential. ICYMI -- HRC ON HUNGARY’S PROPOSED ANTI-LGBTQ LAW: “It is shameful that just a day after Hungary’s Parliament granted emergency powers to Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to confront the global COVID-19 crisis, one of its first actions is to attack the transgender community,” said HRC Global Director Jay Gilliam. “This is just one example of how governments are restricting the freedoms and rights of LGBTQ people and other marginalized communities, unnecessarily putting lives at risk in the midst of a global pandemic.” More from HRC.
