As a Deputy Campaign Director for HRC, Jonathan Shields has helped develop and execute the organization’s voter engagement and member mobilization efforts, resulting in historic victories in 2018 for LGBTQ and pro-equality candidates up and down the ballot.
Jonathan also works alongside HRC's dedicated state field teams to advance pro-LGBTQ legislation including the Equality Act in Congress. Prior to joining HRC, Jonathan worked on electoral and national issue advocacy campaigns, including Hillary for America, Enroll America, and the Center for American Progress. He got his start in politics in his home state of Virginia, organizing for congressional campaigns and serving on Capitol Hill for U.S. Senator Jim Webb (D-VA). Jonathan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Mary Washington.
