Human Rights Campaign fights for LGBT equality in Virginia alongside state and local groups and lawmakers. Find out more about what HRC is doing for LGBT equality in Virginia and how you can get involved with the local community in Washington, D.C.
For the first time in HRC's history, HRC endorsed an entire statewide ticket - Terry McAuliffe for Governor; Ralph Northam for Lieutenant Governor, and Mark Herring for Attorney General ... and all three won! The closest was Mark Herring's race. Out of over two million votes cast, Herring won by 912 votes, making it the closest statewide election in Virginia history. HRC mobilized over 30,000 HRC members statewide before the election. Elections matter. Every vote counts.
Attorney General Herring has attended two HRC events since his election to AG. He attended our Equality Convention in March, 2014, in Washington, D.C., and he was the featured speaker at an HRC Federal Club event in June at the Deloitte offices in Rosslyn.
Because of the Supreme Court's announcement on October 6, 2014, the Fourth Circuit's decision stands and couples living in Virginia can now apply for marriage licenses. Learn more here.
Join us at HRC’s office in D.C. for Equality Talks, a speaker series featuring readings, discussions and more with a wide variety of experts in LGBT-related fields.
