Marriage equality began in Delaware on July 1, 2013. The fight to win marriage equality in Delaware was years in the making. The Human Rights Campaign began working in the First State in 2009, providing critical financial and staff support to Equality Delaware for campaigns to prohibit discrimination and pass civil unions for same-sex couples.
