Kathryn Friedman

Kathryn Friedman serves as the director of the Workplace Project. She is responsible for the overseeing the Corporate Equality Index, Buyers Guide, Employee Programs, and grant projects such as Back to Work and the Jewish Organization Equality Index.

Before joining Human Rights Campaign, Friedman served as the chief diversity officer and a member of the presidents’ senior leadership teams for Wesleyan University in Connecticut, the University of Vermont, and the University of Rhode Island.

Friedman has also been a consultant working with corporations, non-profits, government agencies and universities providing direction and guidance on the design, development and integration of diversity and inclusion strategies that dovetail with overall organizational strategies and missions. She also worked as an organizer and business agent for the SEIU.

Friedman earned a bachelor’s degree from C.W. Post University and a master of fine arts degree from Western Illinois University. She also holds a mediation certificate from the University of Connecticut.
