John A. Greene
John Greene, SPHR, has served as the director of human resources for the Human Rights Campaign since 2006. Specifically, he provides advice and counsel to senior management on key long-term planning initiatives and develops strategic programs to address compensation, recruitment, training, benefits and employee and labor relations issues.
Prior to joining HRC, Greene was the human resources manager for an intellectual property law firm in Washington, D.C. He comes to HRC with 18 years of human resources experience, mostly in the nonprofit healthcare arena working with such well-known companies as Humana and Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
Greene volunteers as a court-appointed special advocate for abused and neglected children in Prince George’s County, Md. He is also a certified professional member of the Society for Human Resources Management and a member of the Black MBA Association.
A native Washingtonian, Greene received his bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Towson State University. He also holds a master’s degree in human resources and a master’s of business administration in marketing from the University of Maryland University College.
