Noël Gordon

Senior Program Specialist for HIV Prevention and Health Equity
Noël Gordon Jr. is a values-driven leader who gets results – whether it’s developing award-winning programs for nonprofit organizations or securing new policy commitments from progressive politicians. An experienced problem-solver with a knack for bringing people together, Noël is doggedly in pursuit of a freer, fairer, more prosperous America.
Noël currently works at the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), where he leads efforts to combat the dual epidemics of HIV and HIV-related stigma. As the organization’s first-ever Senior Program Specialist for HIV Prevention and Health Equity, Noël has helped HRC educate thousands more people than ever before about the current realities of HIV prevention, treatment, and care. He has also helped position HRC as a leader in the fight for unfettered access to Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis, comprehensive sex education, and other common sense, policy solutions.
Noël’s work on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer issues has been mentioned or quoted in more than 300 publications nationwide, including the Associated Press, Washington Post, USA Today, and Teen Vogue. Noël is the recipient of numerous awards, such as the Harry S. Truman and Point Foundation scholarships, and he is a frequently sought-after commentator at local, regional, and national conferences.
An openly gay, Black man with Afro-Caribbean and Latino roots, Noël was born in Brooklyn, New York to a single mother, a nurturing grandmother, and two very courageous aunts – all of whom immigrated to the United States from a coastal city in central Panama. A former high school speech and debate champion, Noël holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and he completed a prestigious law and policy fellowship at the University of California, Berkeley. In September, Noël will return to school full-time to pursue a Master's degree in both Business Administration and Public Policy from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
