David Ritcheson
David Ritcheson was viciously attacked by two individuals because of his heritage as a Mexican-American. After hanging out with a few friends at a local crawfish festival, Ritcheson and a friend, along with the two individuals who would eventually attack him, returned to a home in Spring, Texas where he was supposed to spend the night. It was shortly after arriving at this private residence that Ritcheson was sucker punched and knocked out, and dragged into the back yard for an attack that would last for over an hour. Two individuals, one an admitted racist skinhead, attempted to carve a swastika on his chest. After they stripped him naked, he was burned with cigarettes, kicked with steel toed army boots and sodomized with a plastic pole. The attackers burned Ritcheson in the center of the forehead, and called him a "wetback" and a 'spic" as they continued to beat him as he lay unconscious. Once the attack came to an end, Ritcheson was dragged to the rear of the back yard and left for dead. He laid there unconscious for the next 8-9 hours until paramedics came to his aid. Ritcheson underwent over thirty surgeries during the first three months after the attack. Tragically, in 2007, Ritcheson took his own life while on vacation with his family.
