A Fair-Minded Judiciary

A fair-minded judiciary is critical to the civil rights of all Americans. Courts confront important issues that affect our daily lives and may determine whether lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Americans gain the equal rights promised by the Constitution. Although LGBT Americans currently face discrimination under many state and federal laws, there have been recent gains in the Courts that further LGBT equality. We rely upon the President to appoint judges with a robust understanding of fundamental rights and Equal Protection, and who respect Congress' power to enact civil rights legislation.

It is vital that we have judges who will uphold equal rights for all Americans.
