Percent of Population Living in States with Marriage Equality
With our recent victories in Maine, Maryland and Washington state, nearly 16 percent of Americans are living in states with laws that recognize or will soon recognize marriage equality. Depending on the U.S. Supreme Court's action regarding the federal constitutional challenge to California's Proposition 8, California could very soon join that list, majorly increasing the percentage of Americans living in states with marriage equality.
