Healthcare Equality Index: Why are questions new or updated in the survey?
Each year, the Healthcare Equality Index survey (available as an appendix in each year's report) is updated to capture practices that the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association, and the Healthcare Equality Index Advisory Council have identified as emerging or positive trends in healthcare equality for the LGBT community.
Will these questions become part of the Healthcare Equality Index Rating Criteria?
In some cases, these questions may be considered for future criteria for the HEI. However, many of these questions and the data that is gathered from them are used for informational and reporting purposes only.
