Award for Workplace Equality Innovation 2009: Kirkland & Ellis LLP

Kirkland & Ellis LLP was a recipient of the HRC Award for Workplace Equality Innovation 2009.

3/25/2009

Building upon a long history of supporting LGBT and other diverse student organizations, in 2007 Kirkland's Firmwide Diversity Committee pioneered the creation of a formal initiative to reach out to diverse law students across the country. Coined the "ALLSA" Initiative, an inclusive term reflective of the program’s mission to reach out to racial, ethnic, women’s, and LGBT student groups (i.e. BLSA, APALSA, OUTLaw, etc.), the program acts to foster a sense of community among LGBT attorneys and law students, increase the visibility of LGBT attorneys on law school campuses, create mentoring relationships with LGBT students, and open unique conduits for professional development.
