WASHINGTON - The Human Rights Campaign today announced three new members of its national Board of Directors - David L. Wilson of Boston, Donna Rose of Phoenix and Linda Elliott of Phoenix.

"Our newest board members represent the best of HRC's involvement in communities across the country," said HRC President Joe Solmonese. "They each bring a diverse perspective and a wealth of experience that will help guide our organization."
Wilson is best known as a litigant along with his partner, Rob Compton, in Goodridge v. Department of Public Health, the case which ushered in marriage equality in Massachusetts. The couple was one of the first married on May 17, 2004, in Boston.
Wilson has also:

ﾴserved as vice president and later president of the Greater Boston Business Council
ﾴsat on the boards of Fenway Community Health Endowment, Men of Color Against AIDS and MassEquality and
ﾴserved as a member of HRC's New England Dinner Committee, the HRC Boston Steering Committee and the national HRC Board of Governors.

A nationally recognized voice on transgender issues, Rose is an accomplished speaker, advocate and author of the award-winning memoir Wrapped in Blue. She is also the first openly transgender person to serve as an HRC's Board of Director.

Rose's work includes:
ﾴactive involvement with the Arizona Human Rights Fund
ﾴhaving served as vice chair for the Transgender Advocates of Central Texas and as a current member
ﾴserving as on the board of Phoenix Body Positive, an HIV/AIDS organization, and on the board of advisors for the National Center for Transgender Equality and
ﾴservice on the HRC Business Council, advising HRC and advocating in corporate America for equal workplace policies, and on HRC's presidential search committee, as well as active involvement on the HRC Phoenix Steering Committee.

Elliott began her activism almost 15 years ago fighting Colorado's discriminatory anti-gay constitutional amendment 2 and is a longtime and committed activist.

Elliott also:
ﾴserved three terms on HRC's national Board of Governors representing Colorado
ﾴhelped establish HRC's presence in Phoenix upon moving there
ﾴhas been active in the formation of AZ Together, a coalition to fight the proposed anti-gay constitutional amendment in Arizona
ﾴserves as a board member of Phoenix Body Positive and
ﾴserved as co-chair of the First Annual HRC Phoenix Dinner.

The Human Rights Campaign is the largest national lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender political organization with members throughout the country. It effectively lobbies Congress, provides campaign support and educates the public to ensure that LGBT Americans can be open, honest and safe at home, at work and in the community.
