HRC Statement on the Resignation of GLAAD President Herndon Graddick
WASHINGTON – Today Human Rights Campaign (HRC) president Chad Griffin released the following statement following the news that GLAAD president Herndon Graddick had resigned:
“Without Herndon Graddicks’ tireless leadership during his years at GLAAD, the incredible positive change in the way LGBT people are portrayed in popular culture simply would not have been possible. He’s a true fighter for equality, and his tenure led GLAAD to new and groundbreaking work—from the fight to end the Boy Scouts’ long-standing ban on gay scouts to GLAAD’s essential efforts to lift up transgender voices across the country.
“At this critical moment in our nation’s history, GLAAD is in a powerful position to make historic progress for the LGBT community, and we are eager to work with Acting President Dave Montez to continue those efforts. The entire HRC family wishes Herndon the very best, and the entire LGBT community owes him our deepest thanks.”
The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. By inspiring and engaging all Americans, HRC strives to end discrimination against LGBT citizens and realize a nation that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all.
