HRC Statement on Appointment of Kevin Jennings as Arcus Foundation Executive Director

by HRC Staff

Washington– Human Rights Campaign President Chad Griffin issued the following statement today regarding the appointment of Kevin Jennings as Executive Director of the Arcus Foundation:

“Jon Stryker and the Arcus Foundation board of directors have chosen a skilled and accomplished leader in Kevin Jennings. Kevin is a proven leader who provides vision and strategy to making real change in the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.  As an educator, he identified a need to address LGBT issues in schools and turned that dream into a reality with GLSEN.  His work was rightly recognized as pioneering and he continued to serve through his appointment to the Department of Education.  The movement is lucky to have him now heading the Arcus Foundation – a critical source of expertise and resources for the movement. Throughout its history, Jon and Arcus have provided critical leadership to the LGBT civil rights movement. Kevin’s appointment continues that fine tradition.”

The Human Rights Campaign is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. By inspiring and engaging all Americans, HRC strives to end discrimination against LGBT citizens and realize a nation that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all.
