WW II Veteran Supports Marriage Equality in New York

by HRC Staff •

Washington - Edward Hinz, a World War II veteran who lives on Long Island, has filmed a video with the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization, for the group's New Yorkers for Marriage Equality campaign. In the video, Hinz states, "Seventy years ago, I fought in World War Two. Today, I'm fighting for my grandson's right to marry in New York." The video can be viewed online at www.hrc.org/NY4marriage.

"We're honored that Mr. Hinz, a true patriot, is defending his grandson's freedom to marry," said Brian Ellner, HRC's Senior Strategist in New York. "His support demonstrates that this issue transcends generations."

Polls continue to show a clear and strong majority of New Yorkers favor marriage equality.
