HRC Statement on Supreme Court Not Hearing Massachusetts Marriage Case

'Massachusetts can continue to treat all of its citizens equally,' said HRC President Cheryl Jacques.

WASHINGTON - Human Rights Campaign President Cheryl Jacques released the following statement today after the U.S. Supreme Court denied a challenge to the Massachusetts Goodridge et al. v. Department of Public Health marriage decision:

"Massachusetts can continue to treat all of its citizens equally. Since May, same-sex couples now have access to all the same rights and responsibilities as other couples. It makes sense the court wouldn't take away rights from hard-working, tax-paying American families."

The Human Rights Campaign is the largest national lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender political organization with members throughout the country. It effectively lobbies Congress, provides campaign support and educates the public to ensure that LGBT Americans can be open, honest and safe at home, at work and in the community.
