'Visibility for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community is still so important,' said HRC Development Director Cathy Nelson.

WASHINGTON - As part of a national outreach effort to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community, the Human Rights Campaign and SHOWTIME are teaming up to hold 33 major screening events nationwide for the second season premiere of the hit SHOWTIME series "The L Word"® returning on the network on Feb. 20 at 10 p.m. (EST/PST). "The L Word" is about a group of lesbian women in Los Angeles, their lives, careers and relationships. HRC and SHOWTIME are also partnering with HRC members on more than 300 expected "The L Word" house parties.

"We set out to bridge gaps by inviting the audience into our world of difference, knowing that they'll soon forget our otherness, as they recognize how much of the big emotional journey we share in common," said show's creator/executive producer, Ilene Chaiken.

"Visibility for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community is still so important," said HRC Development Director Cathy Nelson. "People connect with the humanity of the characters they see on television. We're happy to be involved in the joint screenings with SHOWTIME and our members."
