NOM Political Director Claims No Chance African Americans Support Marriage Equality

May 25, 2012, by Maureen McCarty

NOM Political Director Frank Schubert gave this shockingly inaccurate response to the Washington Post-ABC News poll touting support for marriage equality at an all-time high of 53 percent:

“There is not a chance in God’s green earth that African-Americans support same-sex marriage” - The Globe and Mail.

Let's put aside, just for a moment, the fact that the poll indicated 59 percent of African Americans support marriage equality. I'm curious as to how Schubert would explain President Obama, U.S. Secretary of State Colin PowellReverend Al Sharpton, civil rights leader Julian Bond, Mayor Cory Booker, and the countless others who have thrown their support behind marriage equality.
