Anti-Marriage Equality Candidate Supported by NOM Loses in Iowa

The National Organization for Marriage was hoping yesterday’s special election in Iowa would give them a chance to add an anti-equality legislator to the state House but now that the votes are counted, it’s clear Iowans aren’t interested in discrimination. NOM poured $86,080 into the state to elect Stephen Burgmeier in Iowa House District 90. He lost to Democrat Curt Hanson by 107 votes (3932 to 3825).
