The District of Columbia hate crimes law explicitly addresses discrimination based on actual or perceived disability and personal appearance. D.C. Code §§ 22-3701 - 3702 and 22-3704 (2001). Personal appearance covers discrimination based on "outward appearance, irrespective of sex, with regard to bodily condition or characteristics, manner or style of dress." D.C. Code § 2-1401.02 (2001).
Sexual orientation protected? Yes
