I am a 16-year-old high school student who came out to my parents this summer. I am bisexual. My parents, while absolutely open to the prospect of me being lesbian or straight (we have plenty of gay friends, including many people at our very open-and-affirming church), weren’t so thrilled with the concept of bisexuality. Therein lies my quandary. There are very few materials available for bisexual folks whose families are not homophobic, but are uneasy with bisexuality, specifically.
