Summary: This bill would permit either same-sex or opposite sex couples to enter into civil unions with the same rights, benefits, and obligations under state law as married opposite-sex couples.

Status: This bill was introduced February 23, 2007 and referred to the House Rules Committee.  On February 27, 2007, the bill was assigned to the House Executive Committee.  On March 7, 2007, it was re-assigned to the House Human Services Committee.  On March 21, 2007, the committee voted to recommend passage and the bill was placed on the House calendar for second reading.  On April 26, 2007, the bill was placed on the House calendar for third reading (floor vote).    On September 5, 2007, the third reading/final action deadline was extended to October 5, 2007.
