Summary: This bill would have amended existing hate crimes laws, which impose additional penalties for criminal offenses motivated by the victim’s race, color, religion, national origin, ethnicity or disability by adding sexual orientation as a category.

Status: On May 6, 2008, this bill passed the House by a 46-44 vote. The bill also passed a Senate committee, but died when the legislature adjourned May 19, 2008.
