FAQs

Free expert training is available from the HRC Foundation for your organization’s employees—details below!

The training information below applies to healthcare organizations that received training credit in the HEI 2012. The Core Four training page in the HEI 2013 shows whether your organization received credit in 2012.

You can easily achieve training credit in the HEI 2013 by registering at least ten employees, as explained below, either for:

  • Free, expert training from the HRC Foundation OR
  • Equivalent training you arrange

The number of employees required to attend depends on whether your organization is a network or not. The required employees must be registered for training by March 1, 2013, but training can be completed anytime before June 30, 2013.

Free, Live Expert Webinars from HRC Foundation

Your organization can meet the HEI 2013 training requirement by registering the required number of employees, as explained below, for any or all of these three acclaimed expert webinars, offered by HRC live and free of charge through June 2013:

  • LGBT Patient-Centered Care: An Executive Briefing. This highly engaging and informative 90-minute overview gives senior healthcare managers the information they need to ensure that their organizations provide optimal care for LGBT patients and are in full compliance with CMS and Joint Commission requirements. Managers can attend on any of the six training dates offered, and can attend individually or together. Because the Executive Briefing covers organizational best practices in detail, non-managerial employees are encouraged to attend one or both of the webinars below instead. Register or learn more.
  • Your LGBT Patients: An Introduction. This 60-minute webinar is ideal for interested non-managerial employees. Employees can attend on any of the six training dates offered, and can attend individually or together. Managers who have attended the Executive Briefing in 2012 or 2013 shouldn’t attend this webinar, since its content is covered in the Executive Briefing. Register or learn more.
  • Transgender Patients: Organizational Best Practices. This 60-minute webinar is ideal for staff members who want to learn more about how their organizations can better serve transgender patients. Please note, however, that it focuses on organizational practices, not clinical information. Employees can attend on any of the three training dates offered, and can attend individually or together. Register or learn more.

If your organization wants to achieve HEI 2013 training credit via these free HRC trainings, choose the Core Four training page option "Yes, will provide training through HRC" and ensure that the required number of employees are registered for training by March 1, 2013. No additional documentation is needed.

Other Training

Your organization can also meet the HEI 2013 training requirement by registering the required employees, as explained below, for expert training that is equivalent to any or all of the HRC trainings described above. If your organization wishes to arrange its own training:

  • Choose the Core Four training page option "Yes, have provided/will provide other training"
  • Contact HEI staff to make sure the training planned meets HEI requirements for trainer expertise and training length and content
  • By March 1, 2013, upload via the Core Four training page documentation of trainer expertise, documentation of training length and content, and documentation that the required employees have registered for training

Online registrations (for HRC training) or a sign-up sheet (for approved other training) listing the names and job titles of employees who did (or will) attend training is sufficient documentation for training credit, if submitted by March 1, 2013.
