National Call in Day for ENDA
Last month, HRC along with several national organizations, launched Americans for Workplace Opportunity to pass a fully inclusive federal Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA). Now is our chance to make our voices heard and pass employment protections for all Americans.
Currently, lesbian and gay Americans can be fired from their job in 29 states, simply for being who they are; transgender Americans can be fired in 34 states. Earlier this year, the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions committee passed ENDA with a vote of 15 to 7, with three Republicans supporting the bill. Our own senator, Majority Leader Harry Reid is a strong supporter and is committed to passing this bill.
