The polls are officially closed here in Colorado. Voters in Denver County who are on line now are going to be able to vote, so long as they stay in line. The vote in Denver County is going to be crucial to passing Referendum I, this election cycle's only pro-GLBT ballot initiative. An HRC staffer is at a polling location, working to make sure that people who are in line by 7pm are able to excercise their right to vote. The line is about 2 hours long, but these Coloradans seem to be sticking it out. Many HRC volunteers have called voters, knocked on doors, and even gone sign-waving early in the morning for this pro-equality ballot measure.

In the 7th congressional district, Ed Perlmutter is looking to win big in America's most closely divided district. The 7th was drawn to have 1/3 Republicans, 1/3 Democrats and 1/3 unaffiliateds. In such a closeley divided seat, which only two elections ago was decided by 121 votes, a strong victory by a vocally pro-equality candidate is a strong symbol.

In the 4th congressional district, things will be coming down to the wire. I've been on the ground here in rural Weld County, helping connect LGBT volunteers to the campaign. This district was seen as virtually unwinnable mere weeks ago. But pro-equality candidate Angie Paccione has waged an incredible campaign against Federal Marriage Amendement-sponsor Rep. Marylin Musgrave. Angie ran adds that called Rep. Musgrave out on her out-of-touch priorities, and we'll be finding out tonight!
