Election Night Blog

Sent in by: Ohio HRC Volunteers

Whew! It's hard to believe Election Day is finally here. Hopefully, all our hard work is about to pay off!

Hundreds of HRC volunteers are still hard at work across the country, fighting for pro-equality candidates. Here in Columbus, Ohio, we had a very long weekend, with constant door-to-door canvassing and phone banking.

On Sunday night, a lingering handful of tired Team HRC Columbus volunteers received a personal visit by Ohio's next U.S. senator, Sherrod Brown, when he dropped by one of the staging sites. Sherrod acknowledged HRC's role in his campaign several times, along with those of unions and other well-organized progressive groups. And he told the story of how, before she'd agree to go out with him, his wife, columnist Connie Schultz, researched Sherrod's positions on choice and gay equality.

We gave Sherrod a Team HRC Columbus shirt. Go Sherrod! And go HRC volunteers everywhere!
