One of the hot races in Ohio was just called in favor of GLBT equality!

Pro-equality Ohio gubernatorial candidate Ted Strickland has defeated Ken Blackwell, who was once quoted saying, "I don't know how many of you have a farming background but I can tell you right now that notion even defies barnyard logic ... the barnyard knows better."

HRC volunteers have been incredibly active in this race, and one of them sent this anecdote in to us today:

Volunteers were dropping literature at union household yesterday when one HRC staffer called out to the volunteers, "Any chance you might know someone who could come help this afternoon assemble walk packets?"

A few calls and an hour later, the volunteers had 10 people on their way to the office, and after 3 hours had finished all of the walk. Then, at 6 p.m., two volunteers went back and helped lead phase two of completing the packets for tomorrow.

By 11:15 p.m., they were settled down into a large mushroom pizza at the city house, feeding three HRC staffers, before sending them off for 5 or 6 hours of sleep.
