Sen. George Allen of Virginia, who twice voted in favor of the Federal Marriage Amendment, is about to concede! Taking his place, new Senator-Elect Jim Webb, an HRC endorsee, has pledged not to support the FMA. Plus, Webb was vocal in his opposition the ballot initiative in Virginia to ban marriage equality for same-sex families. That measure did pass on Tuesday, but with a smaller margin than similar measures passed in other states.

Best of all, Allen's victory means we now have a fair-minded majority in BOTH the U.S. House and Senate!

This is a tremendous victory for GLBT Americans. The 110th Congress will be historic in the best possible way!
