Application
HRC is not a standard advocacy organization. The nature of our work creates the need for the kind of facilities not commonly available in typical office buildings. Our programs — which include aggressive grassroots organizing throughout the country — require the frequent planning of rallies, demonstrations and other public events; intense involvement in cyclical political campaigns; regular visits from members, lawmakers, candidates and other allies; the hosting of small- and large-scale meetings and conferences drawing attendees from throughout the country; and a rapidly growing Internet presence. At the same time, potential applications such as exhibit areas, memorials and public meeting spaces are simply not feasible in leased space. The plans for the new building will allow HRC to conduct these activities in-house, in areas specifically designed for the organization.
