Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service

Transform Dr. King's Teachings to Community Action

Let’s come together as a community to serve LGBT homeless youth on MLK Day of Service. Taking place in January, MLK Day of Service is a "day on, not a day off." It is a way to transform Dr. King's life and teachings into community action to help bring together people, strengthen communities, and meet national challenges.

Join HRC members and partnering organizations across the country on January 19 and the surrounding days by volunteering in your community.

Each year Americans honor the legacy of Dr. King by donating time on the federal holiday to serve their neighbors and communities.

At HRC, we believe that we have a responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of our LGBT youth, who make up 40 percent of homeless and at-risk youth. In our first year participating in MLK Day of Service, HRC will be collecting supplies and assembling care bags from LGBT homeless youth.
