All week long, HRC is calling on its members and supporters to tell us how they’re living openly and authentically, while celebrating another historic year in coming out.

To help you celebrate National Coming Out Day in style, we’re breaking into the archives and bringing back an exclusive run of the iconic Keith Haring National Coming Out Day logo. Check it out here:
We have longtime HIV/AIDS & queer activist and author Sean Strub to thank for Haring's now famous image of a person seeming to dance out of the closet. Strub managed the NCOD program at the time and had been a long-time acquaintance of Haring's. He asked Haring to create a logo and poster for NCOD, and had the resulting artwork donated to NCOD, which merged with HRC in 1999.  
In coming out, we, as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or allied individuals, contribute to the overall movement for equality and justice.  It is with that spirit that Haring designed the logo for National Coming Out Day- an individual boldly coming out of a closet.
