While we celebrate marriage equality in the North Star state, the 12th state, plus D.C., in America with marriage equality on the books, we’re reminded of the work that remains to achieving LGBT equality worldwide.
Currently, 76 countries criminalize same-sex relationships and LGBT individuals face discrimination and persecution across the globe.
Today, the United Nations Human Rights Office released a video, which includes cameos by UN Secretary-General and High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay, highlighting the violent reality for LGBT individuals who live in these countries.
