Post submitted by Adrian Matanza, Former HRC Regional Field Director

In just a few moments, the Hawaii State Senate will convene and consider SB1 HD1, the marriage equality bill. Last week, the bill cleared its biggest hurdle passing the House by a vote of 30 to 19. You may recall, the senate passed a similar version at the start of the special session.

While the Senate is expected to easily pass the bill, HRC is on the ground working alongside Hawaii United to make sure the legislature knows that the residents of Hawaii support marriage equality. Click here to watch the proceedings live.

Should the bill pass the Senate, Governor Abercrombie is expected to sign the marriage equality bill in the coming days.

Please consider thanking the governor in person for his commitment at his community meeting at the Newtown Community Center in Pearl City tonight at 6:00 p.m. For more information, contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
