Of the four headlining speakers, San Francisco's Archbishop Cordileone has attracted more attention than the other three. He's in the news more than even the more high profile Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum, who are actual politicians one would expect to find at such a march. This outsized attention is because of the campaign to get Cordileone to appeal to his better angels and avoid a political rally that is so clearly geared toward animus, which has attracted all kinds of news items in the past few days.
But as I said in my last post on the subject, none of us should hold our breath for Cordileone to have a change of heart. After all, he has admitted that he believes gay people need to stop being gay and that he sees homosexuality as little more than "behaviors & lifestyles that so often end in self-destruction":
