US Secretary of Education Arne Duncan commended the Boy Scouts of America for changing its long-standing policy that excluded gay scouts.  In a statement released last week, Duncan made clear that while the change of policy is a “historic step in the right direction,” there is still more to do to become fully inclusive.  Duncan encouraged the BSA to  “continue to move forward in ensuring equality throughout the organization."
As HRC noted last week, while lifting the ban on gay Scouts was historic, the new policy doesn’t go far enough.
