Moments ago, Apple CEO Tim Cook tweeted his support for the Employment Nondiscrimination Act, which aims to provide basic protections against workplace discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity. In his tweet, Cook calls out U.S. House Speaker Boehner, Majority Leader Eric Cantor, Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer.
Last year, after an aggressive campaign by HRC, the U.S. Senate passed ENDA with bipartisan support. But the bill still needs to pass the U.S. House of Representatives.
Apple has a long history of LGBT inclusion. In 2002, Apple was one of the original 13 companies to earn a 100 percent on the Corporate Equality Index.
