HRC Foundation’s Welcoming Schools program is an LGBT-inclusive program that focuses on reducing gender-based bias, name-calling and bullying in elementary schools and fostering a diverse, inclusive and welcoming environment for all children and their families.

At HRC’s upcoming Time to THRIVE conference, February 13-15, our Welcoming Schools staff and regional consultants will facilitate several workshops focused on helping educators and other youth serving professionals address anti-LGBT bias among youth.

“This is a great opportunity for people who work with LGBTQ youth to learn strategies from people who are on the ground working with youth and educators on issues of LGBT and gender-based bias, as well as all forms of identity based-bullying, on a daily basis,” says Welcoming Schools Director Johanna Eager.

The Welcoming Schools workshops are strategically offered at times that will allow for conference participants to attend each of the three workshops, moving from lesson plan implementation to hearing from educators that are currently using Welcoming Schools.
