Tax Day is Here

Today’s the big day! You have until midnight to file your tax returns. As if that isn’t stressful enough, we are reminded during tax season that LGBT people are treated as second-class citizens. For the past week, we’ve been sharing facts about the unfair tax burden our community faces. The number one reason for the tax inequities is the discriminatory Defense of Marriage Act. Repealing DOMA and making marriage equality a reality in all 50 states would lift the discriminatory tax burden. It’s important we tell that to the anti-equality leadership in Congress as they continue to defend DOMA. To help spread the word, today we are running a full-page ad in Politico on the cost of discrimination.
