As a well-known advocate for women and LBGT rights, HRC-endorsee Wendy Davis is an inspiration during Women’s History Month. Since her step onto the national stage in 2013 before announcing her candidacy for Governor of Texas, Davis has strongly spoken out for LGBT rights.
While serving as a local elected official, Davis authored and sponsored a sexual orientation non-discrimination bill. While serving in the State Senate, she voted to protect LGBT students from bullying. After announcing her candidacy for Governor, Davis called on her Republican opponent, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, to stop defending the state’s same-sex marriage ban.
We look to our female endorsees, including Wendy Davis, for leadership into the future, as we celebrate the progress we’ve made. They are all facing tough elections in November, and we look forward to supporting them.
