As the Minnesota Senate prepares to vote on marriage equality, the people of St. Paul are showing their support for loving, committed same-sex couples.
Today, Mayor Chris Coleman issued a proclamation temporarily renaming of the landmark Wabasha Street Freedom Bridge to the Wabasha Street Freedom to Marry Bridge.
The bridge, which straddles the Mississippi River in downtown St. Paul, is lined with rainbow flags.
Should the Senate pass marriage equality legislation this afternoon, the city will mark the victory with events across the city all week.
As a founding member of Minnesotans United for Marriage Equality, HRC is hard at work to make Minnesota the 12th state, plus D.C., with marriage equality on the books.
Stay tuned to the HRC Blog for breaking news from the state throughout the day.
