Senator Tim JohnsonToday, U.S. Senator Tim Johnson (D-SD) became the 53rd cosponsor of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA).  With his cosponsorship, it is clear a solid majority of the Senate believes that ENDA should be law.

The American people believe it is a bedrock principle that we ensure that job permformance, not someone's sexual orientation or gender identity, determines who gets a job or who gets promoted.   This is true in cities like Houston and Nashville and states like South Dakota and Ohio.

And, even if you live in a state with marriage for same-sex couples, you can't put your husband or wife's picture on your desk if that would get you fired.

Sen. Johnson has long supported equal rights for LGBT Americans.  In addition to support for marriage equality, Sen. Johnson voted for repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" and the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act.
